Senior Farm Share

Thanks to a grant from the USDA, the Senior FarmShare program provides low-income seniors the chance to receive fresh vegetables and fruits from Maine farmers during the growing season.

Downtown Planters

Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is key to a healthy diet, but not everyone has ready access to a grocery store or can afford to buy fresh produce. One approach to the problem is to bring the farm closer to people's homes by making it easier to grow food. Community members are encouraged to stop by, weed, water and harvest the scenery. Easy no commitment volunteering!

FEED ME Food Club

FEED ME Food Club began after RVHCC was asked to assist Western Mountains Alliance in providing seniors in the River Valley with access to online purchasing of Maine produced goods. After six months of outreach and success with ordering goods for residents of the Rumford Island Housing, or the Muskie Building as we all know it, and a few very enthusiastic community members RVHCC was offered funding to create a club that was based in the River Valley.

Here we are today changing one household at a time! Our goal is to educate and expose the community to everything fresh. Fresh Eating Every Day for ME will be a “place” for consumers to buy in bulk with other members providing access to Maine grown products such as dairy, meats, veggies and fruits to name a few. Look around…drop us a line…stop by…talk to other members.  Try it!
